Track Design

  • The intent to create a dark ride* that was a mixture of both thrill and comfort.

    • I wanted the audience to reminisce on moments of the movie, bringing joy and ‘awh’ moments.

    • I (also) wanted the ride to be fast, have drops, and be thrilling (exciting), but only with enough G force to make your stomach soar a little.

    • I wanted it to be kid safe, but fun for the adults; accessible for all.

  • The highlight points were numbered and thoughtfully placed in sequence of order.

    1. A blueprint layout of the Pelekai home (Lilo and Nani’s house) was created, complete with first and second floor and an outer layout, to have the audience accurately ride through the home, placing key moments and objects from the movie in each room.

      • This works for the outside tour of the home as well, during #12 when the audience travels past the kitchen window, hearing sounds of disagreement and dishes flying when Jumba and Pleakley invade the home in attempts to capture Stitch (Experiment 626).

    2. An eagle eye map was created in tandem with the 3D version to accurately depict my vision and thought process.

*Dark Ride: A dark ride moves an audience through a sequence of scenes where elements like lighting and sound are able to be controlled and help bring a story to life. These are not always fully indoor or in total darkness, some examples of dark rides are Pirates of the Caribbean, Peter Pan, Radiator Springs Racers, Space Mountain and Alice in Wonderland.
